Overview
- Mexico received 7,880,311 international visitors in August 2025, up 14.7% year over year, as average spend per visitor fell 9.8% to USD 285.85 and total tourism receipts rose 3.4% to USD 2,252.6 million.
- Overnight stays reached 3,786,226 visitors, equal to 48% of arrivals and a 9.9% increase from the prior year.
- Tourists of internación numbered 1,849,544 (+2.2%), and tourists’ total outlays were USD 1,998.7 million, with 89% from internación travelers and 11% from border tourists.
- Within internación travel, air entries accounted for 80.7% of arrivals (down 0.9%) and land entries 19.3% (up 17.5%), and INEGI data show air arrivals down 0.9% and their total spending down 2.1% year over year.
- Outbound travel also expanded as 6,972,035 Mexican residents went abroad (+10.7%), spending USD 1,306.1 million (+16.4%) with an average of USD 187.34 (+5.1%).
