Mexico’s Anticorruption Office Sanctions 17 Federal Officials

Backed by Tribunal Federal de Justicia Administrativa rulings, the penalties impose dismissals, ineligibilities up to 10 years and fines to enforce the federal administrative-responsibility law.

Overview

  • The Secretaría Anticorrupción y Buen Gobierno published a list on Sunday, August 23, 2026 naming 17 sanctioned public servants from 11 federal institutions and detailing dismissals, suspensions, public reprimands, fines and inhabilitaciones.
  • The punishments were applied after internal audits and investigations by Units of Responsibility and Órganos Internos de Control produced evidence that the Tribunal Federal de Justicia Administrativa classified as faltas administrativas graves while the Secretaría executed measures for non‑grave faults.
  • Notable cases include two CFE employees in Tacuba who were inhabilitated for four years for soliciting 70,000 pesos from a user, an ISSSTE worker in Campeche banned for 10 years and fined 180,000 pesos for using another’s professional credential, and a Banco del Bienestar teller in Xochitepec banned for two years for 15 unauthorized withdrawals.
  • Separate non‑grave sanctions include the dismissal of four Guardia Nacional members for presenting invalid high‑school certificates to obtain firearm licenses and suspensions or warnings across Pemex, INAH, AIFA and other agencies.
  • The Secretariat said the sanctions were issued according to the Ley General de Responsabilidades Administrativas, the affected officials may appeal the rulings and the office will defend its resolutions which could prompt tighter internal controls and legal challenges.
