Mexico Warns of Heavy Rain and Mountain Snow as Galicia Expects Gales and Argentina Issues Storm Alert

Cold Front 17 interacting with an incoming system plus an atmospheric river is driving the most hazardous conditions, according to national forecasts.

  • Mexico’s meteorological service forecasts 25–50 mm of rain in Baja California Sur, Sinaloa, Durango and Chihuahua with risks of flooding, landslides and river rises.
  • There is a probability of snow or sleet in high terrain of southern Chihuahua, Durango and Sinaloa, with minimum temperatures of -10 to -5 °C and frost in several sierras.
  • Wind gusts are expected to reach 60–80 km/h in parts of Sonora, Chihuahua and Durango, with additional strong gusts in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and 30–50 km/h across several other northern and western states.
  • AEMET-based forecasts for Galicia call for widespread rain with periods showing a 100% chance of precipitation and notable gusts near 50–56 km/h in towns such as A Guarda, Marín and Cambados.
  • Argentina’s SMN issued a yellow alert for Salta and Jujuy for locally strong storms with frequent lightning, possible hail, gusts above 70 km/h and 30–70 mm of rain, while Rosario remains warm and stable near 29–30 °C.
