Overview

• Mexico’s Secretariat of Public Education published a national calendar running Sept. 1, 2025 to July 15, 2026 with 185 instructional days, reducing the school year by five days to grant teachers an extra week of summer vacation and schedule technical-pedagogical council sessions.
• U.S. districts across Illinois, California and Florida set their calendars under state codes mandating 176–180 instructional days, integrating additional teacher training days and recess breaks within staggered start dates from Aug. 11 to Aug. 27.
• Chicago Public Schools will begin classes Aug. 18 for kindergarten through 12th grade and Aug. 19 for preschool, organize the year into four academic segments and observe winter break Dec. 22–Jan. 2 and spring recess Mar. 23–27.

• Argentina’s National Secretariat confirmed a 190-day academic year, scheduled a July winter recess and delegated exact return-to-class dates to provinces under federal-provincial guidelines.
