Mexico Truckers and Farmers Plan Nationwide Road and Border Blockades for Nov. 24

Organizers say talks produced no enforceable results on highway security.

Overview

  • The transporters’ group ANTAC and allied farm organizations FNRCM and MAC reaffirm a national stoppage from about 8:00 a.m. Monday with closures on key highways and at northern customs points.
  • Disruptions are expected across roughly 20–25 states, with likely closures at Mexico City access routes such as the MéxicoQuerétaro, MéxicoToluca, México–Pachuca, MéxicoPuebla and MéxicoCuernavaca corridors.
  • Core demands include action against cargo theft and extortion, resolution of licensing and plating backlogs, and fair pricing for maize and other crops.
  • The Interior and Agriculture ministries call for dialogue and say representatives will be received in the Chamber of Deputies on Monday to discuss the water law, while the national trucking chamber CANAC says it will not participate.
  • Organizers warn there will be no passage and indicate actions could extend or include border bridges if unmet, with detailed logistics withheld until shortly before the action.
