Mexico Touts Coordinated Extortion Crackdown, Citing 212 Arrests

  • At the XXXI Plenary Assembly, SSPC chief Omar García Harfuch and FGR head Alejandro Gertz Manero credited intergovernmental coordination for recent results.
  • Participants agreed to integrate state security cabinets, update the national information system, regulate command-and-control centers, expand local police forces, strengthen investigative units, create 32 police academies and ensure effective use of federal funds.
  • Michoacán committed to reinforce information-sharing and interinstitutional mobilizations with federal forces, maintaining deployments across its 13 regions and increasing presence in high-incidence municipalities.
