- SEP chief Mario Delgado announced the change during a visit to the Tomás Garrido Canabal primary school in Dos Montes, Tabasco, with Governor Javier May present.
- Each eligible family receives 1,900 pesos every two months, with an additional 700 pesos for each extra secondary student in the same household.
- SEP estimates more than 12 million primary pupils will be added to the program once it opens to public primary schools in 2026.
- The announcement coincided with supervision and inaugurations of education projects in Tabasco, as SEP highlighted 545 million pesos for La Escuela es Nuestra benefiting 116 upper-secondary and 1,590 basic-education schools.
- Current secondary enrollment remains digital via the Llave MX portal using CURP, ID and proof of address, with a national Facebook Live briefing scheduled for September 29 at 20:00 to explain the process.
