Overview
- From January 9 to March 23, the CRT will hold dialogue tables with businesses in Querétaro, Hermosillo, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Mérida, the Isthmus of Oaxaca, Veracruz and Baja California as a preparatory step that will be followed by formal public technical consultations.
- The outreach aims to map spectrum demand and design more accessible assignment schemes to improve national connectivity for about 15 million additional users.
- The CRT’s 2026 spectrum program highlights strategic bands, including 600 MHz for wider-area coverage and 10 GHz and 37 GHz for high-capacity and fixed wireless services.
- Discussions will cover industrial private networks, commercial services, proximity microwave links and 5G applications in regions with strong manufacturing, agrifood and logistics activity.
- A formal 5G auction has not been guaranteed, and the regulator is also beginning a mandatory mobile-line registration this month with a tentative enrollment window through June for roughly 160 million lines.
