Overview

• Veracruz ordered a statewide halt to classes on October 8 across all 212 municipalities and all education levels under a Grey Alert and SIAT-Ver Organization phase.
• Puebla suspended presential activities in 5,875 schools across the Sierra Norte and Nororiental for October 8–9, with remote learning in place and a tentative return on October 10 if weather allows.
• Baja California Sur kept classes suspended on October 8 in Los Cabos and La Paz due to Hurricane Priscilla, which the SMN reported with Category 1 winds and dangerous seas.
• Nayarit canceled in-person classes on October 8 in municipalities including Acaponeta, Bahía de Banderas, Compostela, San Blas and Tecuala because of Priscilla’s bands and high winds.
• The SMN noted Tropical Storm Jerry far east of Cancún yet capable of producing rains, as civil protection agencies coordinated resources, readied shelters and urged residents to avoid flooded crossings and unstable slopes.
