Overview

  • Senior officials from SRE, SADER, AMEXCID and CIMMYT signed framework and specific cooperation accords to advance technical and scientific collaboration on food sovereignty.
  • The agreements set in motion the “Avanzando hacia Sistemas Integrados de Innovación Agroalimentaria en México” project across Campeche, Chiapas, Guerrero, Michoacán, Morelos and Puebla.
  • The initiative targets increased production of white corn, beans, rice and vegetables while safeguarding ecosystems and improving rural incomes.
  • Actions are aligned with President Claudia Sheinbaum’s Plan México under the Fourth Transformation’s Segundo Piso principle of shared prosperity as a path to peace.
  • Resources and expertise are being mobilized to build domestic self-sufficiency, bolster climate resilience and reduce dependence on global supply chains.
