Mexico Sets Sept. 6–13 National Public Health Week With Free Vaccines and Screenings Nationwide

Officials describe an equity-focused push driven by a measles outbreak plus lagging childhood vaccination.

Overview

  • Health authorities say the rollout will use clinics, hospitals, schools, public spaces and mobile brigades, with logistics and outreach materials finalized ahead of the launch.
  • The campaign targets 20 million people through more than 30,000 public‑health actions across 32 states, 242 health jurisdictions and 2,478 municipalities.
  • Services include vaccines across the life course—measles‑rubella, polio, rotavirus and pneumococcus for children; HPV and tetanus‑diphtheria boosters for adolescents; Tdpa for pregnant women; and influenza and pneumococcus for older adults—alongside checks for diabetes, hypertension, obesity and kidney disease.
  • Leaders urged measles vaccination, reporting 4,353 cases and 17 deaths nationally with over 95% of cases in Chihuahua, and nearly 6 million vaccine doses administered so far.
  • Public outreach features a Lotería Nacional commemorative ticket available since Aug. 25 for the Sept. 7 Sorteo Zodiaco No. 1718, with officials also citing support from PAHO, WHO and UNICEF.
