Overview

  • At the XXXI CNSSP plenary in Mexico City, officials agreed to consolidate the National Information System, regulate C5 command centers, speed police development and certification, improve 089 report channeling and training, and the SESNSP announced a forthcoming Registro Nacional de Eficiencia Ministerial to track prosecutorial performance.
  • The SSPC reported more than 32,600 calls to the 089 hotline since July 6, with 69% identified as thwarted extortion attempts through operator guidance and prevention campaigns.
  • From July 6 to August 24, authorities detained 212 people for extortion in 15 states, concentrated in Michoacán, Guerrero, Estado de México, Guanajuato, Tabasco and Oaxaca.
  • Michoacán was recognized for 41 arrests under the strategy, including a Morelia operation that detained three people for extortion and kidnapping and seized two short firearms and vehicles.
  • FGR chief Alejandro Gertz Manero warned that gains by the federal government, Army and Navy will be lost without firm cooperation from state security secretaries.
