- Education officials from the Secretaría de Educación Pública and the 32 state authorities reviewed a proposal to set device rules that vary by student age during the Second National Extraordinary Plenary Meeting of the Consejo Nacional de Autoridades Educativas.
- Teachers who took part in the national consultation asked that any rule consider students' developmental stage, include protocols to prevent risks on social networks, and involve parents and caregivers in consistent agreements for home and school.
- The SEP cited research showing high young-user access to the Internet as a driver for action, saying minors make up a large share of global users and that most Mexican adolescents have online access.
- As part of the prevention effort the SEP will roll out 'El ABC de las Emociones' with 16 million printed guides (7.5 million for students, 7.5 million for parents, 1 million for teachers), 250,000 posters, digital materials on the SEP portal, and plans to reinforce in-school support from September 23.
