Mexico Reports 8,139 Detentions in Border Operation as Explosives, Drug Sites Seized

The latest report underscores sustained federal pressure on border-state criminal logistics.

Overview

  • Since February 5, Operación Frontera Norte has yielded 8,139 detentions, 6,367 firearms, 1,106,690 rounds, 29,481 magazines, 104,200 kilograms of drugs including 483.32 kilograms of fentanyl, 5,216 vehicles, and 987 properties.
  • In Moris, Chihuahua, authorities seized 51 explosive objects, 80 detonators, 20 improvised explosive devices, 12 stolen vehicles, and a stolen motorcycle.
  • In Cosalá, Sinaloa, three synthetic-drug concentration areas were disabled and 2,350 liters of methamphetamine precursors were seized, with an estimated 47 million pesos impact on organized crime.
  • In Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, three people were detained and officers seized two handguns, three magazines, 70 rounds, metal plates, five phones, and a vehicle.
  • Additional actions included the seizure of six firearms, a magazine, 520 rounds, and a stolen vehicle in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, and a stolen vehicle with four magazines and six rounds in San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora.
