Mexico Reports 37% Drop in Daily Homicides, Lowest November Since 2015

Authorities pivot to confront rising extortion.

  • Official data show the national average fell from 86.9 to 54.7 intentional homicides per day between September 2024 and November 2025, a reduction of 32 victims daily.
  • Seven states accounted for 51% of killings from January to November 2025, led by Guanajuato, Chihuahua, Baja California, Sinaloa, Estado de México, Guerrero and Michoacán.
