Overview
- In an update covering Oct. 1, 2024 to Aug. 25, 2025, authorities reported 30,700+ arrests, 15,496 firearms seized, nearly 240 tonnes of drugs confiscated, 3.5 million fentanyl pills intercepted and 1,356 meth labs disabled, including 47 tonnes of cocaine taken at sea by the Navy.
- Over the past two weeks alone, officials reported more than 1,000 arrests, 381 weapons seized, nearly 20 tonnes of drugs confiscated and 61 clandestine labs dismantled.
- Recent operations included the captures of José Luis “N” (“El Chalamán”) in Colima, Dylan Samuel “N” linked to Nuevo Imperio/Los Malportados in Edomex and neighboring states, and Héctor “N” (“Cachorro”) in Jalisco.
- Security officials said the Cártel de Sinaloa cannot be considered dismantled, describing a decentralized structure with active cells and leaders still at large.
- The government dismissed reports of a Chapitos–CJNG alliance in Sinaloa and said deployments there were reinforced with 100 patrol vehicles and specialized Army and Navy personnel.
