Mexico Reins In 2025 Deficit With 322 Billion-Peso Spending Undershoot Through August

Weak oil income alongside higher debt costs increased reliance on buoyant tax receipts.

  • Unspent resources totaled 321,973 million pesos, led by a 259,894 million peso pullback in programmatic expenditures.
  • The public-sector borrowing requirement fell to 709,503 million pesos, with the debt burden at 49.5% of GDP for SHRFSP and 50.2% for net public debt.
  • Debt-service payments reached 820,820 million pesos, up 9.3% year over year but 22,527 million below the period’s projection.
  • Total revenue came in 117,988 million pesos under plan as oil income lagged by 229,922 million, partly offset by stronger tax intake with ISR and VAT outperforming targets.
