Mexico-Registered Hawker 800XP Crashes in Michigan, Killing Three Mexicans

Investigators are examining a post-maintenance test flight that reportedly ended in a stall.

Overview

  • The NTSB, supported by the FAA, is leading the investigation into the Oct. 16 crash near Clark Road and Peacock Road in Bath Township around 5 p.m., with no injuries reported on the ground.
  • Mexico’s Foreign Ministry confirmed all three victims were Mexican nationals and said the Detroit consulate is assisting families and coordinating repatriation.
  • The twin‑engine business jet, tail number XA-JMR and registered to Aéreo Líneas del Centro in Aguascalientes, departed the Battle Creek/Kalamazoo area minutes before the crash.
  • Duncan Aviation said the flight was a post‑maintenance test and reported the accident occurred during a stall; the occupants were two pilots and a maintenance representative.
  • Flight‑tracking data show a sudden descent from roughly 14,000–14,775 feet in about 30 seconds, and recorded audio captured a pilot calling “stall recovery” as air traffic control tried repeatedly to reestablish contact.
