Overview
- SSPC’s daily tally for December 24 lists 42 homicide victims, led by Chihuahua with six, Jalisco with five, and the State of Mexico, Morelos and Sinaloa with four each.
- An interagency count reports 1,167 homicides from December 1–24, averaging 48.6 per day, below the daily averages recorded in December 2023 and 2024.
- Fifteen states reported no killings on December 24, with examples including Campeche, Durango, Michoacán, Nuevo León, Veracruz and Zacatecas.
- From January to November, seven states—Guanajuato, Chihuahua, Baja California, Sinaloa, State of Mexico, Guerrero and Michoacán—concentrated 51 percent of national homicides.
- Sinaloa deployed more than 12,000 security personnel for holiday patrols, while Michoacán’s governor reports a 60 percent annual drop in killings and Sonora posts a 46.7 percent decline based on official statistics.
