Overview
- The Secretaría de Educación Pública published the convocatoria on Thursday that starts a formal selection process with registration of aspirants from November 3 to 6 and a final delivery of shortlists to the president on December 1.
- A Comisión de Revisión y Custodia will check candidates against the IPN Organic Law and publish the validated aspirants on November 18 so the community can review their records and proposals.
- The community vote will be electronic from November 25 to 27 with equal sector weight: 33.33% for students, 33.33% for academic staff, and 33.33% for support staff; the process will produce two shortlists of three women and three men.
- The move follows about a year of student mobilizations that demanded audits and the exit of current director Arturo Reyes Sandoval over alleged irregularities, infrastructure shortfalls and the 2025 agreement with the Patronato Corazón Guinda y Blanco.
- The consultation gives the IPN community a direct voice and could ease tensions on campus, but the president keeps sole authority to name the Director General for a four-year term, so the lists are advisory to the final decision.
