Mexico Opens Electoral Reform Hearings and Portal Ahead of October Surveys

Officials opened participation to citizens using a dedicated portal with in-person hearings nationwide.

Overview

  • Public hearings are underway in Mexico City’s Salón Revolución, with sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 17:00 and Thursdays at midday, and the first state forum scheduled in Puebla on September 24.
  • The portal reformaelectoral.gob.mx is live for registration, proposal submissions, calendar access, live streams and publication of interventions and reference materials.
  • The Commission approved a plan to conduct nationwide opinion surveys starting in October to complement the hearings and forums.
  • Discussions will follow ten thematic axes that include political freedoms, party system rules, campaign financing and oversight, electoral justice, representation, vote from abroad and participatory mechanisms such as revocation of mandate.
  • Organizers say debates will include opposing views, and the Commission is coordinating with the INE and the TEPJF to incorporate technical input, with conclusions due to the Presidency in January 2026 and a possible initiative to Congress on February 1, 2026.
