Mexico Moves Birth Certificate Trámite Fully Online Through National Registry Portal

Llave MX authentication now grants access to state-priced, legally valid digital birth certificates on the national registry portal during the pilot phase of biometric CURP enrollment.

Overview

  • Since August 1, all certified birth-certificate requests must be submitted exclusively through the federal portal miregistrocivil.gob.mx.
  • Applicants need an active Llave MX account to log in, enter their CURP and personal details, and verify their information before payment.
  • Official state-by-state fees are published online and range from about 55 to 250 pesos depending on the entity.
  • Downloaded PDFs carry the same legal weight as printed originals if they are output on white letter-size paper and feature embedded digital security measures.
  • Officials are piloting biometric CURP enrollment and plan to roll out Locatel WhatsApp payment and submission channels to further streamline the trámite.
