Overview
- Mexico has confirmed 4,292 measles cases and 15 deaths as of August 27, according to the national epidemiology report.
- Transmission has been detected in 21 states and 89 municipalities, with Chihuahua accounting for 3,997 confirmed infections.
- More than 90% of patients were unvaccinated, and none of those who died had a record of measles vaccination.
- The Health Ministry opened the free 079 line in Mexico City to guide residents to nearby vaccination sites; shots are free and available for children 6 months–9 years, people 10–49 without complete schedules, health and education workers, and vulnerable groups.
- Authorities continue sanitary perimeters of about 25 blocks around cases and a national vaccination drive up to age 49, and while weekly cases have fallen more than half since the April peak, transmission remains active.
