- On Wednesday, July 15, the Secretaría de Educación Pública published Acuerdo 07/07/26 in the Diario Oficial de la Federación, formally adopting the 2026–2027 school calendars.
- The calendar fixes the student start date as Monday, August 31, 2026, and sets the official end of classes for basic education as Friday, July 9, 2027, while escuelas normales follow a slightly longer schedule.
- The agreement specifies two mandatory lengths: 185 effective school days for preescolar, primaria and secundaria, and 190 days for escuelas normales and teacher‑training institutions.
- The schedule preserves a one‑week August recess for teachers and schedules a Fase Intensiva del Consejo Técnico Escolar from August 24–28, 2026, as well as a full list of CTE sessions and official holiday suspension dates for the cycle.
- Publication makes the calendar binding for public and private schools incorporated into the Sistema Educativo Nacional and provides certainty for purchases, evaluations and administrative windows even though some states previously adjusted 2025–2026 dates for heat or World Cup events.
