Mexico Lifts Vivienda para el Bienestar Target to 1.8 Million Homes

Officials paired the higher goal with updated financing terms and fresh data on enrollment and debt relief.

Overview

  • In the revised plan, Infonavit is slated to produce 1.2 million units, Fovissste 100,000, and Conavi will offer 20,999 homes in an initial stage across 51 municipalities in 20 states.
  • Authorities reported 1,564,000 beneficiaries of mortgage relief through quitas, condonaciones and liquidaciones, including 1,415,000 from Infonavit and 149,000 from Fovissste.
  • Conavi has registered 61,060 non-rightsholder applicants so far, 80% of whom are women, as in-person modules and online tools expand access.
  • Housing units will be about 60 square meters with an approximate price of 600,000 pesos, targeting households earning up to two minimum wages and located near workplaces.
  • Financing terms include 0% interest for Conavi applicants without social security and rates reported not to exceed 8% for Infonavit and Fovissste; authorities also flagged near-term activity with construction starts planned this year and initial deliveries pending.
