Overview

  • Foreign visitors in the ‘Visitante sin permiso para realizar actividades remunerativas’ category from 134 countries can now apply through the SRE’s online portal for an electronic visa.
  • Successful applicants receive a one-time QR code valid for 30 days and a permitted stay of up to 180 days.
  • Applicants must hold passports valid for at least six months beyond arrival, submit biometric data (fingerprint, iris scan, signature) and pay standard visa fees.
  • Visa approvals remain discretionary and can be denied under Article 43 for security risks or fraudulent documents, with rejected applicants eligible to reapply in person at Mexican consulates.
  • Nationals of visa-waiver agreement countries continue to enter Mexico for short non-remunerative visits without the electronic visa requirement.
