Mexico Launches Public AI Training Center With Free Hybrid Courses, Dual Certifications

Registrations are open for a free, hybrid program that pairs public instruction with industry certifications to seed a nationwide AI workforce.

Overview

  • The government opened enrollment Nov. 6–Dec. 6 for the Centro Público de Formación en Inteligencia Artificial, with the first five‑month cohort of 10,000 students set to begin in January 2026.
  • The program runs in person across 10 TecNM campuses—including Mexico City, Mérida and Tijuana—and online via SaberesMx, with a propedéutico screening for the in‑person track and open virtual access.
  • Officials outlined 20 specialization tracks across five areas—artificial intelligence, data analytics, cloud, Java and cybersecurity—offering double certification from public institutions and participating tech companies.
  • The initiative, described as part of the forthcoming “México, país de innovación” strategy, targets about 25,000 graduates per year after a second 2026 cohort of roughly 15,000.
  • Partners include Infotec, TecNM, IPN and firms such as Microsoft, Google, AWS, IBM, Meta, Oracle, SAP, Accenture, Ericsson and Kyndryl; early commitments include IBM’s large‑scale reskilling push and a 20‑week Kyndryl cybersecurity course, with TecNM adding a new AI master’s program in 2026.
