Mexico Launches Public AI Training Center, Opens Applications for 10,000-Student First Cohort

Built with universities and global tech partners, the five-month course delivers free hybrid instruction with dual certifications to boost employability.

Overview

  • Applications run from November 6 to December 6 at labmexia.gob.mx, with the inaugural five‑month cohort starting in January 2026 and online access via the SaberesMX platform.
  • Training will be delivered in hybrid format across 10 TecNM sites in Mexico City, Mérida, Tijuana, Morelos, Veracruz, Puebla, Morelia, Oaxaca, Tamaulipas and Nayarit.
  • The program spans 20 specializations across artificial intelligence, data analysis, cloud, Java and cybersecurity, and includes mentorship, English training and job‑readiness skills.
  • Graduates will earn public credentials (from institutions including TecNM, IPN and Infotec) alongside private certifications from companies such as Microsoft, IBM, Google, AWS and Meta, with firms like Accenture, SAP and Kyndryl contributing curriculum support and training.
  • Positioned within the forthcoming “México, país de innovación” strategy and linked to a planned National AI Laboratory, the center aims to scale toward roughly 25,000 graduates annually, as parallel industry forums in Europe spotlight near‑term ROI and stress governance and equitable access, including reported 20% absenteeism and up to 15% food‑waste reductions.
