Overview
- The Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores published updated electronic visa guidelines on July 25 in the Diario Oficial de la Federación, replacing the decade-old system and mandating full deployment within 180 days.
- The visa grants non-remunerated visitors up to 180-day stays for tourism, business, transit, religious, sports, or medical reasons.
- Nationals of Ukraine, Turkey, and Russia must apply unless they hold valid multiple-entry visas or residency permits from the U.S., Japan, the U.K., the Schengen Area, Canada, or Pacific Alliance countries.
- Applicants need a passport valid for at least six months and must file their requests online at least 30 days before travel.
- Immigration officers at entry points may still require proof of hotel reservations, return flights, or financial solvency despite visa approval.
