Overview

  • President Claudia Sheinbaum inaugurated the Bachillerato Nacional, which unifies curriculum and will grant both a general high school diploma and a technical certificate endorsed by public universities and institutes.
  • SEP reported that 272,793 applicants used the ECOEMS “Mi Derecho, Mi Lugar” system, with 68.4% assigned to their first choice and 97.4% to one of their top three selections.
  • The enrollment platform remains open until August 28 to place roughly 12,000 applicants who had incomplete registrations or selected only IPN/UNAM options.
  • Authorities announced 20 new schools, 33 expansions and 35 secondary‑to‑preparatory conversions—adding about 37,500 to 40,000 places with an investment of more than 2.5 billion pesos.
  • Most preparatory schools now offer direct access without a common exam, though UNAM and IPN keep their own tests; officials noted 68% of students were placed within five kilometers of home and acknowledged isolated assignment errors.
