Mexico Launches Continent’s Largest Public AI Training Center, Opens Enrollment for January Cohort

Public–private training aims to broaden access to job‑ready AI skills through free hybrid courses that confer dual certifications.

Overview

  • Applications for the first cohort run from November 6 to December 6 at labmexia.gob.mx, with 10,000 students set to study from January to June 2026.
  • The free, five‑month program will be offered in hybrid format across 10 TecNM campuses — including Mexico City, Mérida, Tijuana, Morelos, Veracruz, Puebla, Morelia, Oaxaca, Tamaulipas and Nayarit — and will also be available nationwide online via SaberesMX.
  • The curriculum spans 20 specialization tracks across artificial intelligence, data analysis, cloud, Java and cybersecurity, with practical problem‑solving, mentorship and conversational English to strengthen employability.
  • Graduates will receive dual certifications from public institutions (Infotec, TecNM, IPN and others) and from global tech firms such as Microsoft, AWS, Google, IBM, Meta, SAP, Oracle, Accenture and Ericsson, with officials targeting about 25,000 graduates per year.
  • The launch forms part of the “México, país de innovación” strategy as parallel coverage underscores equity concerns, calls for stronger enterprise AI governance, and fresh industry signals including Microsoft’s new MAI superintelligence team and reports of massive AI investments that may still lag demand.
