Mexico Launches Acapulco Marina Bus as Part of Six-Port Modernization

Construction is set to begin shortly on the Marina Bus terminal, piers, a cruise terminal, public waterfronts under a six-port revitalization program.

Overview

  • The Secretaría de Marina unveiled the Marina Bus shuttle with an inaugural Puerto Márquez–Centro de Acapulco route and will expand corridors based on demand.
  • Officials have allocated 170 million pesos to build the Marina Bus terminal and Jardín del Puerto and 20 million pesos to upgrade the Puerto Márquez pier.
  • A dedicated cruise terminal in Acapulco will receive 350 million pesos in initial funding to reactivate maritime tourism.
  • Works in Acapulco include modernizing piers and remodeling the malecón to open previously restricted waterfront areas to residents and visitors.
  • These projects launch SEMAR’s broader plan to upgrade six strategic ports—Ensenada, Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas, Acapulco, Veracruz and Progreso—with construction set to begin soon.
