The initiative targets dropout by placing campuses near students’ homes.

Overview

  • SEP unveiled the 2026 plan with 202 actions to expand Bachillerato Nacional, including 20 new technological high schools, 52 campus enlargements and 130 Ciberbachilleratos to create 65,400 new places this year.
  • New tech campuses will open in cities such as Tijuana, Ciudad Juárez, Hermosillo, Culiacán, San Luis Potosí, Celaya, Reynosa, Tlalpan, Valle de Chalco, Playa del Carmen, Cholula and Xochitepec to address longstanding seat shortages.
  • The Ciberbachillerato is a modular, teacher‑mediated, in‑person model designed for small and rural communities, with computer labs, connectivity, arts education and dedicated sports spaces.
  • A larger 2026 scenario totals 292 actions to open 95,400 seats, bringing the administration’s cumulative expansion to roughly 140,085 toward the 150,000 goal.
  • Retention supports continue through the Benito Juárez scholarship program for about 4.09 million students with funding above 40 billion pesos and La Escuela es Nuestra investments of roughly 4.56 billion pesos for 6,092 upper‑secondary schools, alongside a 90‑action Plan Michoacán adding 30,000 places.
