Mexico Health Ministry Breaks Ground on High-Specialty Diagnostic Center in Tlalpan

The center is designed to relieve pressure on nearby national institutes by centralizing high‑demand imaging with remote diagnostics.

Overview

  • Construction has begun in the Tlalpan medical cluster where eight national institutes treat complex conditions.
  • Operational targets are 90 PET scans per day and 100 MRIs per day with hours from 07:00 to 22:00.
  • The single‑story facility spans about 3,565 m² and will house five MRI units, three PET‑CT units, 20 preparation rooms, nursing, exam and control areas, and a dedicated image‑reading room.
  • Planned services include real‑time teleconsultation for studies performed in other states, cited as enabling remote reads from places such as Chiapas, and a training hub for high‑specialty radiology staff.
  • As part of a broader health pole strategy, the project includes a proposed central de mezclas to support the institutes, reduce patient backlogs, and streamline ambulance transfers to the center.
