Mexico Formalizes Interagency Data Sharing to Use Carta Porte in Fight Against Contraband

The pact channels existing electronic invoicing records into coordinated inspections to strengthen traceability.

Overview

  • SEMAR, SICT and SAT signed the collaboration on September 22 to operationalize the exchange of transport data.
  • The Carta Porte, introduced in 2022 as a CFDI complement, records detailed information on goods, vehicles, participants, origins and destinations.
  • Authorities say the shared data will reinforce inspection, verification and fiscal actions and improve security for merchandise movement.
  • SAT reports 1,510 million Carta Porte complements issued through August 31, 2025 by about 140,000 unique issuers, with more than 350 CFDI generated per second.
  • The agreement provides for joint training to facilitate compliant use and supports mobility planning with precise, up-to-date information.
