Mexico Deploys 161 Health Brigades for Vaccination and Dengue Control in Flood-Hit States

The push centers on curbing post-flood infections through weeks-long vector work alongside targeted vaccines.

Overview

  • Federal and state health authorities mobilized 1,188 personnel organized into 161 brigades operating in Puebla, Veracruz and Hidalgo.
  • Teams include epidemiologists, vaccinators and vector-control specialists coordinated across IMSS-BIENESTAR, ISSSTE and other agencies.
  • Immunizations offered cover hepatitis A and B, measles–rubella, COVID-19, influenza, BCG and tetanus with priority for vulnerable groups.
  • Dengue prevention runs for six to eight weeks with cleaning, space spraying, ovitrap reinstatement, larval control and thermonebulization rather than dengue vaccination.
  • Brigades are chlorinating water, applying abate, distributing oral rehydration solution and teaching handwashing, with mobile units reaching hard-to-access areas and supporting hospitals in places such as Huachinango and Tuxpan.
