Overview
- For the week of Nov. 7–13, the Treasury set the IEPS quota for gasoline Magna at 4.96 pesos per liter and for Premium at 4.27 pesos per liter, as published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación.
- Those changes reduce federal subsidies for Magna and Premium and raise the IEPS charge by 1.18 pesos per liter versus the prior week, though the government notes this does not automatically equal the same rise at the pump.
- Diesel remains under a zero IEPS quota for a ninth consecutive week, but the complementary diesel stimulus was cut from 2.60 pesos to 1.59 pesos per liter, shrinking the additional support for that fuel.
- Banco de México lowered its policy rate from 6.50% to 6.25% and officials and market analysts say continued fuel support helps blunt headline inflation and gives the central bank more policy space.
- The Treasury uses weekly quotas and complementary stimuli published in the DOF alongside a voluntary price-stabilization agreement with gas station operators, and national average prices reported by PETROIntelligence on Nov. 6 were: Magna 23.70, Premium 28.59 and diesel 26.98 pesos per liter.
