Overview
- SEP’s national calendar holds: classes end Friday, Dec. 19, and students return Monday, Jan. 12, following a Jan. 7–9 teacher training period.
- Winter schedules are in force where temperatures are harsh, with confirmed adjustments in Puebla (30‑minute delay), Tlaxcala (8:30–13:00 and 13:30–17:30), Querétaro (8:30–12:30 and 14:00–18:00 for primaries) and San Luis Potosí (30‑minute morning tolerance and earlier afternoon release).
- Several states will start the winter break earlier in selected zones: Chihuahua (serrana schools two days early), Coahuila (one or two days by region), and Durango (Dec. 17 or 18 in sierra areas), while Nuevo León permits suspensions where municipal cold alerts are issued.
- SEP reiterated there is no nationwide suspension on Dec. 5 or 6, noting that any local exceptions are defined by state authorities, such as Baja California’s own commemorations.
- Education officials caution that additional local schedule changes remain possible depending on the evolution of incoming cold fronts, while most states keep the federal calendar unchanged.
