Overview

  • President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that no institution may require the biometric version, leaving participation to each citizen.
  • RENAPO will start emailing the new document to registered applicants from mid-October, with downloads limited to the holder via SEGOB and RENAPO portals.
  • Pilot registration modules are operating in multiple states to collect data in person for those who choose to enroll.
  • The updated CURP captures fingerprints, a facial photograph, an iris scan and an electronic signature.
  • The traditional CURP remains valid and the process is free, with digital issuance via the Llave MX app planned using biometrics already held by agencies such as INE, SAT or SRE.
