Mexico City Shortens Nov. 20 Parade Route as Generación Z Plans New March

Authorities shortened the Revolution Day parade route to reduce contact with a newly called Generación Z march.

Overview

  • Sedena set the parade for 10:00 a.m. with a shortened course from the Zócalo along 5 de Mayo, Eje Central and Avenida Juárez to Avenida de la República, ending at the Monument to the Revolution.
  • City agencies warned of road closures and advised travelers to plan ahead, with temporary Metrobús suspensions on Lines 3, 4 and 7 and suggested alternatives including Circuito Interior and Eje 1 Norte.
  • The Generación Z collective called a second mobilization for Nov. 20, widely reported for 11:00 a.m. from the Ángel de la Independencia to the Zócalo, though a separate UNAM‑only call also circulated and remains unconfirmed.
  • The U.S. Department of State urged people to avoid demonstrations, noting that groups tied to the Nov. 15 protest that turned violent are expected to participate and that conditions may be unpredictable.
  • Business groups reported heavy losses from recent unrest, with Canaco CDMX estimating roughly 1.4 billion pesos in the ReformaJuárez corridor and ConComercioPequeño citing about 500 million pesos in damages in the Centro Histórico after the Nov. 15 events.
