Mexico City Sets October Dates for Two Pan de Muerto Festivals

Both gatherings foreground artisanal bakers under a no-resale policy, offering free entry with paid tastings.

  • Organizer Germania Méndez says the artisan event will host about 86 producers across categories, including roughly 20 small family bakeries, and excludes resellers to protect authenticity.
  • Vendors confirmed for the artisan market include Quesos Brito, Chocolates Itze and Panadería El Fresno, alongside the Colectivo Catrinas Regionales for cultural programming.
  • Attendees can expect a broad range of styles and flavors such as traditional loaves, filled and vegan versions, and regional recipes from Oaxaca, Guerrero, Puebla and Xochimilco.
  • Museo Kaluz will hold the V Festival del Pan de Muerto on October 18–19 at the Café del Museo terrace from 10:00 to 18:00, with the full program pending and guidance to arrive early and bring cash for paid tastings.
