Overview
- Authorities scheduled the opening of the Juanacatlán, Tacubaya and Observatorio stations for Sunday, November 16, restoring uninterrupted service from Pantitlán to Observatorio.
- Modernization began on July 11, 2022 and was delivered in phases to limit disruption, first reopening Pantitlán–Salto de Agua and then Balderas–Observatorio before the final stretch.
- The Line 1 contract totals more than 37.37 billion pesos to be paid over 19 years, with about 3.04 billion pesos paid by September and roughly 34.33 billion pesos outstanding, according to the STC.
- The STC said sanctions were applied to the CRRC-led consortium for delays, though details are reserved for three years due to litigation, and the modified contract permits implementation until December 18, 2025.
- The STC reports delivery of 29 NM22 trains for the route, and ridership has been recovering on reopened sections to an average of about 349,000 daily, still below pre‑pandemic levels of more than 700,000.
