Mexico City Raids Seize 10 Kg of Cocaine, Link Four Arrests to August Homicide

Officials describe a coordinated push using court warrants to disrupt street-level trafficking tied to extortion.

Overview

  • Police executing a judge-authorized search in Iztapalapa found 10 kilograms of cocaine worth about 2.3 million pesos and two firearms, arresting Jonathan Guzmán and Kevin Gabriel at a drug-packaging site.
  • A separate warrant in Miguel Hidalgo on Lago Zirahuén in Anáhuac Primera Sección led to four arrests and the seizure of 274 bags of marijuana, 188 bags of cocaine, two guns, a magazine and cartridges.
  • Authorities say the Miguel Hidalgo detainees are linked to the August 7 killing in Tlaxpana that triggered the investigation into a local narcomenudeo network.
  • During the capture of the suspected gunman in that case, the man opened fire on officers, was shot, and was taken under police guard to a hospital.
  • Intelligence officers also arrested Karen Selene in Colonia Guerrero with marijuana, 30 cocaine doses, cash and a phone, identifying her as part of the Fuerza Antiunión 2 de Abril cell that extorts merchants; all detainees and evidence were turned over to the Ministerio Público and the properties were secured.
