Mexico City Police Arrest Six in Azcapotzalco Raids Targeting Alleged Home-Burglary, Drug Cell

All six suspects remain in custody pending prosecutorial review of evidence from four court-ordered searches.

  • Four coordinated searches on November 10 in Azcapotzalco followed months of intelligence work by SSC and the city prosecutor's office with support from SEDENA, SEMAR, SSPC and the National Guard.
  • Authorities seized about 1,130 apparent doses of cocaine hydrochloride, a short firearm with a magazine and 50 rounds, official IDs, mobile phones and other evidence, and sealed the properties.
  • Investigators link the detainees to eight home burglaries recorded between April 2024 and January 2025 in Del Carmen (Coyoacán), Anzures and Irrigación (Miguel Hidalgo) and Un Hogar para Nosotros (Azcapotzalco).
  • Those arrested were identified as Ángel Gabriel Vieyra Calvo, Blanca Angélica Calvo Vargas, Rodolfo Vieyra Calvo, Leonel Aníbal Aguilón Ramírez, Cristian Dioney Canelo Sánchez and Aldo Esteban Díaz Díaz, and were placed at the disposal of the Ministerio Público.
  • Officials said the operation was conducted without violence under policing and human-rights protocols, and two suspects aged 31 and 29 have prior entries to the city penitentiary for robbery and drug-related offenses from 2020 to 2025.
