Overview

• SSC-CDMX agents detained Óscar Giovanni Mata on September 25 in the Constitución de la República neighborhood of Gustavo A. Madero after spotting him handling a bag of marijuana while on a motoneta.
• Officers seized 101 baggies of marijuana, about 300 grams of loose cannabis, 63 wraps and additional bags of cocaine, a bag of crystal, cash, a phone, and the vehicle, and turned him over to the FGJCDMX.
• Authorities link the 31-year-old, also known as “El Renato,” to La Unión Tepito and report connections to an operator identified as “El Manzanas” active in the city center.
• Municipal records show Mata worked in the Cuauhtémoc administration’s Dirección de Coordinación Territorial Interna, while widely shared photos place him with former mayor Sandra Cuevas and Alejandro “El Choko” Mendoza.
• Cuevas has acknowledged personal and professional ties and says she gave him a position but denies knowledge of criminal activity, and the development follows the September 10 arrest of “El Choko.”
