Mexico City Police and AICM Sign Security Pact to Expand Airport Crime Tracking

The agreement expands intelligence-led policing to track airport-linked crimes beyond the terminals.

Overview

  • The collaboration took effect on October 9 with signatures by SSC chief Pablo Vázquez and AICM director Juan José Padilla Olmos.
  • SSC intelligence units are authorized to deploy field cells for surveillance and to follow airport-related cases across Mexico City and neighboring states when linked to the aerodrome.
  • The partners will share video, images, and data to identify, locate, and detain people or vehicles tied to criminal groups using airport areas to commit crimes.
  • Priority targets include high-impact offenses such as robberies of people exiting currency-exchange points and activity in free-transit zones where victims are selected.
  • Separately the same day, a driver struck a traffic officer near Terminal 1 and was detained; the officer was treated on site for a superficial traumatic brain injury, and alleged intoxication remains unconfirmed.
