Mexico City Opens Recovered Coyoacán Police Module as Police Hospital Works Begin

Officials set a goal of 500 round-the-clock modules across all boroughs by the end of the administration.

Overview

  • The Hermosillo site inauguration in Coyoacán is the borough’s first recovered proximity module and brings a permanent 24/7 police post at Amacuzac and Cerro del Quinceo.
  • Mayor Clara Brugada reported a 27% year-to-date drop in high-impact crimes in Coyoacán, with investigation files down from 1,870 in 2024 to 1,040 in 2025.
  • Citywide, 97 modules are operating, 27 are under recovery, and 16 have been delivered during this term as authorities pursue a network of 500.
  • Demolition and site preparation have started for the Police Hospital in Venustiano Carranza on a 15,000 m² property, with formal construction planned for January 2026 and completion targeted for July–August 2026.
  • Officials credited proximity policing and intergovernmental coordination for the local decline and outlined two patrol cars per colony alongside an expansion to 115,000 cameras and more than 3,500 new patrol units.
