Mexico City Opens First ‘Casa de Gobierno’ in Coyoacán to Decentralize Services

The new neighborhood hub aims to cut long trips to the city center by concentrating procedures with repairs in one place.

Overview

  • Inaugurated at the rehabilitated 1940 Xotepingo pumping plant, the site was opened by Mayor Clara Brugada as the first node of a citywide model.
  • Modules from multiple secretariats will handle documents, social support and cultural services alongside on‑site crews for potholes, lighting, pruning and water response.
  • Each site is slated to deploy at least 160 workers with 33 vehicles and specialized equipment, with space planned to expand based on demand.
  • Officials outlined a rollout of 21 Casas across the 16 boroughs, projecting more than 3,500 hires and investment exceeding 3 billion pesos.
  • A security reinforcement accompanies the launch, with 192 new patrol vehicles assigned to Coyoacán and local legal assistance provided by the Consejería Jurídica.
