Mexico City Offers Free Will Services in July for Iztapalapa Seniors

Residents over 60 can complete their testament at Iztapalapa’s legal offices through July 31 without paying costly notary fees.

Overview

  • The Consejería Jurídica y de Servicios Legales and Alcaldía Iztapalapa launched the free-testamento program on July 1 and will keep it active until July 31, 2025.
  • Adults aged 60 or older residing in Iztapalapa can apply at the Dirección General Jurídica on Aldama 63 in Barrio San Lucas, while a separate citywide offer for those 65+ at Registro Civil modules remains disputed.
  • Applicants must present a birth certificate, official ID with an Iztapalapa address, proof of domicile under three months old, and complete both the borough’s application and a socioeconomic form.
  • Approved applicants will sign their wills at Notaría 243 on Avenida Prado Norte 255 in Lomas de Chapultepec at the date and time indicated by the legal office.
  • The off-season initiative extends the national “Mes del Testamento” into July to remove financial barriers to will-making and safeguard seniors’ inheritance rights.
