Overview

• The FGJCDMX identified Lex Ashton “N”, 19, as the probable attacker who killed student Jesús Israel “N”, 16, with a bladed weapon inside UNAM’s CCH Sur campus.
• A campus worker, Armando “N”, was injured while trying to stop the assailant and was reported discharged from the hospital later that night.
• After attempting to flee, the suspect jumped from a campus building, fractured both legs, and remains under SSC guard at a hospital in the Coapa area.
• UNAM evacuated the campus, suspended classes until further notice, and is providing legal and psychological support to the victim’s family.
• Investigators are reviewing the suspect’s pre-attack social media posts that showed his attire and a message calling himself “escoria,” and are probing how weapons were brought onto the autonomous campus.
